I started getting involved with media activism and television production in the early 90's at a point in my life where I couldn't stand it anymore and had to do something.  I was flipping channels and came across the syndicated TV show "Alternative Views" from Austin Community Television on the Seattle public access station.  This quickly became my favorite TV show and I eventually became the program originator for Seattle.  This is because I wanted to see all their shows and record them, and only secondarily as a community service.  Eventually, after a 17 year run, "Alternative Views" stopped production in 1996.  I decided to produce my own show.  One thing that I learned from AV is that although they did a lot of well done interviews and intense "documentary" style production, many times a talk or lecture was every bit as interesting and informative.  The idea was to get the information out that is filtered by corporate media to the public in the most effective way with the least amount of labor, since I'm just one person and I don't get paid much.  I have always enjoyed a great lecture or talk.  It's still a massive amount of work to to find the subject matter and make these recordings into high quality TV shows suitable for national broadcast.  I always strive to live up to these standards.
